Hi! I’m Ginna.
Chompions started as a place to share recipes. Over time, it became something more.
My Story
I live in the DC area with my dog, Olive.
By day, I work in product design. I spend my time building systems and shaping experiences that feel seamless. I love figuring out how to make something work more efficiently and look better while doing it.
That mindset doesn’t turn off when I close my laptop.
For a long time, my life looked different. I was out most weeks. Happy hours. Brunches. Ordering in. Saying yes to everything. It was fun, and for a while it fit.
But life shifted. And with it, my priorities.
I realized I felt most calm at home.
I started cooking more. Paying attention to what I was eating and how I was spending my time. Instead of ordering out several nights a week, I began building meals around what I already had. I like variety, so I learned how to combine ingredients in different ways and make them feel new again.
Now I cook nearly every meal at home.
I still love going out. I enjoy trying restaurants around the city on the weekends. But my pace has slowed down, in a good way. I used to think I had to be doing everything or I was wasting time. I’ve learned that quiet nights at home can be just as rewarding.
I love taking Olive with me whenever I can. I like exploring new places, finding routines that work, and creating small moments that make everyday life feel special.

Why Chompions Exists
Chompions started very simply.
I wanted to cook more.
I was tired of searching for recipes online and wading through ads, long backstories, and pages of scrolling just to get to the ingredients. I wanted something cleaner. Somewhere I could go, find what I needed quickly, and actually get dinner on the table.
So I built it.
In the beginning, it was just a recipe log. When I made something using what I had in my fridge and it turned out well, I added it to the site. I like looking at the ingredients I already have and figuring out interesting ways to combine them. If it worked, it earned a spot. If friends or family asked for it, I could send them a link instead of rewriting it in a text.
It was practical. Organized. Easy.
Over time, though, it became more than that.
As life shifted and I found myself with more unstructured time, I realized I felt better when I was building something. Writing. Cooking. Documenting. Creating structure where I could.
The site slowly expanded beyond recipes. It became a place to put my thoughts. Notes about living in a studio apartment. About settling into a new version of my life. About navigating uncertainty while still making dinner every night.
Most of what I write here is for my own clarity. It helps me process. It keeps me steady. But if someone else finds a recipe they love, or feels less alone in something I’ve written, that’s a bonus.
At its core, Chompions is about making something with what you already have. In your fridge. In your home. In your life.
And sharing it when it feels ready.
💛
If you have a balcony, patio, or small outdoor space, it has the potential to become one of the best parts of your home. When I moved into my studio apartment, the balcony was just a plain concrete slab. With a few simple upgrades like deck tiles, outdoor seating, string lights, and some greenery, I slowly turned it into a space where I actually want to spend time. Now it’s where I drink my morning coffee, sit outside with Olive, and relax in the evenings while watching the city. If you’re looking for small balcony ideas or ways to make the most of apartment outdoor space, here’s exactly how I set mine up.
