For the Cocktail

  • 2 oz bourbon

  • 4 oz unsweetened apple juice or apple cider

  • 1 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice

  • 1/2 oz cinnamon syrup (recipe below)

  • Ice cubes

  • Thin apple slices and cinnamon sticks for garnish

Cinnamon Syrup:

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 3-4 cinnamon sticks

Steps

Step 1

In a small saucepan, combine water, granulated sugar, and cinnamon sticks.

Step 2

Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar has completely dissolved.

Step 3

Allow the mixture to simmer for a few more minutes, then remove from heat and let the cinnamon sticks steep for about 15-20 minutes.

Step 4

Remove the cinnamon sticks and let the syrup cool before using. Store any leftover syrup in the refrigerator for future cocktails.

Step 5

In a shaker, combine bourbon, apple juice or cider, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and cinnamon syrup.

Step 6

Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds to chill and combine the ingredients.

Step 7

Strain the cocktail into a glass filled with ice cubes.

Step 8

Garnish with thin apple slices and a cinnamon stick for a touch of visual flair.

Make it your own!

  • For a non-alcoholic version, omit the bourbon and increase the apple juice or cider and cinnamon syrup.

  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less cinnamon syrup, based on your preference.

  • Experiment with different types of bourbon or whiskey for variations in flavor.
