Hot Honey & Ricotta Flatbread

⏱️ Prep Time: 10 minutes • 🍳 Cook Time: 10 minutes

If you’re in the mood for something fancy-ish but super easy, this Hot Honey & Ricotta Flatbread is your answer. It’s crispy, creamy, salty, spicy, and sweet all at once—and comes together in less time than it takes to scroll through your takeout app.

Crispy flatbread with fluffy whipped ricotta, prosciutto, arugula, and hot honey

I started making this as a quick lunch when I had leftover naan in the fridge, and now it’s one of those recipes I crave weekly. The whipped ricotta feels ultra-luxe but takes less than a minute to pull together. Add a little crispy bacon or prosciutto, something green and peppery like arugula, and the real star of the show—hot honey. That sweet heat drizzled on at the end? It seals the deal.

You can bake this in the oven or even crisp it up in a hot skillet if it’s too warm to turn the oven on. It’s endlessly riffable too. Swap the protein, use pesto instead of ricotta, or try it with fresh figs if they’re in season. This is one of those “use what you have” recipes that still feels like a treat.

Whether you're making this for yourself with a glass of wine on the patio or slicing it into squares for a party appetizer, it feels like something you ordered at a trendy café. Only you made it in 20 minutes, in sweats. Win.

Ingredients

🍽️ Servings: 2 (as a meal) or 4 (as an app) • 🔥 Calories/Serving: 340

  • 2 naan or flatbreads

  • ¾ cup ricotta cheese

  • 1 tsp olive oil (plus more for brushing)

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • 4 slices prosciutto or 3 strips bacon, cooked until crisp

  • 1 cup baby arugula

  • 2 tbsp hot honey (plus more for drizzling)

  • Optional: red pepper flakes, lemon zest, or balsamic glaze for garnish

Steps

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment.

Step 2

In a small bowl, whisk together ricotta, 1 tsp olive oil, salt, and pepper until smooth and fluffy.

Step 3

Lightly brush the naan or flatbreads with olive oil and bake for 4–6 minutes, until just golden and starting to crisp.

Step 4

Remove from the oven and spread the whipped ricotta over each flatbread.

Step 5

Top with torn crispy prosciutto or bacon and return to the oven for 2–3 minutes, just to warm everything through.

Step 6

Remove from the oven, top with fresh arugula, and drizzle generously with hot honey.

Step 7

Optional: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes, lemon zest, or balsamic glaze before slicing and serving.

Make it your own!

  • 🧀 Make it extra creamy
Stir a spoonful of mascarpone or cream cheese into the ricotta before spreading.

  • 🐓 Add some protein
Shredded rotisserie chicken or crispy tofu makes this heartier for dinner.

  • 🌿 Herb it up
Add fresh basil, thyme, or mint over the top for a fresh flavor hit.

  • 🍑 Add fruit flair
Try thinly sliced peaches or figs in place of or alongside the prosciutto for a sweet-savory twist.
