Hot Honey Deviled Eggs with Chili-Honey Bacon Crumble

⏱️ Prep Time: 20 minutes • 🍳 Cook Time: 10 minutes

These aren’t your grandma’s deviled eggs. These are creamy, spicy-sweet, smoky, and just the right kind of fancy. A swirl of hot honey in the yolk mix adds an unexpected twist, and the chili-honey bacon crumble on top? Total flavor bomb.

A platter of deviled eggs topped with golden yolk filling and crispy chili-honey bacon crumble

I started making these for brunches and holiday parties when I wanted something a little retro—but with a twist. Deviled eggs are always a hit, but once I added hot honey to the filling and tossed crispy bacon in chili flakes and a little honey glaze? Game. Over. People eat these like candy.

You can prep the eggs and bacon in advance, then just assemble right before serving. I love how the hot honey gives the creamy yolk mixture a subtle warmth that plays so well with the rich egg base. And that salty, crunchy, sticky-sweet bacon on top makes these feel fancy with very little extra work. They’re perfect for Easter, Thanksgiving apps, brunch spreads, or even a casual happy hour snack board.

Ingredients

🍽️ Servings: 12 (24 halves) • 🔥 Calories/Serving: 100

  • 12 large eggs

  • ¼ cup mayo

  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard

  • 1½ tbsp hot honey (plus more for drizzling)

  • ½ tsp apple cider vinegar

  • ¼ tsp garlic powder

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • 4 slices bacon

  • ½ tsp chili flakes

  • Optional garnish: chopped chives, smoked paprika, microgreens

Steps

Step 1

Place eggs in a pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil, then cover, remove from heat, and let sit for 10 minutes.

Step 2

Transfer eggs to an ice bath and let cool. Peel and slice in half lengthwise.

Step 3

Scoop yolks into a bowl and mash with mayo, Dijon, hot honey, vinegar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.

Step 4

Spoon or pipe yolk mixture back into the egg whites.

Step 5

In a skillet, cook bacon until crispy. Drain, chop finely, and toss with chili flakes and 1 tsp hot honey.

Step 6

Sprinkle bacon crumble over the filled eggs. Garnish with chives or smoked paprika if desired.

Make it your own!

  • 🥓 Skip the bacon
Sub in crispy shallots or roasted chickpeas for a vegetarian version with crunch.

  • 🌶 Extra spicy
Add a dash of cayenne to the yolk mix or use spicy brown mustard instead of Dijon.

  • 🥬 Brighten it up
Stir in a little chopped dill pickle or relish to balance the heat with tang.

  • 🐝 DIY hot honey
Heat ¼ cup honey with ½ tsp chili flakes and a splash of vinegar until warm. Let steep, strain if desired.
